How to recognize a bad bra?

Most women make sure to buy well-fitting clothes that will highlight their figure . However, a surprisingly large proportion of them wear ill-fitting underwear on a daily basis!

Of course, underwear remains invisible most of the time, but it has a huge impact on the appearance of our figure, as well as on the appearance of the clothes we buy. So, how do you know you're wearing the wrong bra ? Here are the most important red flags:

Spis treści:

Wrong size under the bust

The underbust area bears the brunt of our bust. That's why it's so important to choose the right circumference - it can't be too tight, but also too loose.

Too big under the chest

A bra that's too loose under the bust is one of the most common problems. A bra that's mismatched in terms of underbust circumference can contribute to the continuous movement of the structure, which very often results in painful abrasions. In addition, a bra that's too loose doesn't provide good support for the bust, causing most of the weight to be transferred to the straps.

How do you know if a bra is too loose? The most common symptoms are:

  • pressure on the straps,
  • breasts hanging too low,
  • abrasions and burns of the skin on the lower part of the breast,
  • visible marks on the back after removing the bra,
  • a printed bra on the upper abdomen instead of under the breasts.

Too small under the breasts

Contrary to appearances, a bra that is too tight is not only uncomfortable, but also does not provide proper breast support. A bra circumference that is too small causes the material to painfully stick to the skin, and its pressure can even cause stomach or lymphatic circulation problems.

It's worth remembering that a bra circumference that's too small won't always be visible to the naked eye - especially in women with a small amount of body fat. However, you should always remember to check that the bra isn't sticking too tightly to the body.

Mismatched cups

  • Bra cups that are too large - This is theoretically one of the easiest to see effects of a bad bra. When we choose a bra with cups that are too large, its upper edge will not fit properly against the skin of our breasts. It is also worth checking whether the upper part of the cup is not folded, which will also be a sign of an incorrect size. However, it is worth remembering that the aforementioned upper edge does not always have to fit perfectly - we are only talking here about the situation when we stand.
  • Too small cups in a bra - Such a cup mainly does not cover the entire breast, which often protrudes from it - in front or to the side. We can recognize such a bra by the fact that the breasts are not properly separated and the bridge of the bra protrudes from our skin.

Wrong length of straps

  • Straps that are too long - Straps that are too long can be recognized first by the fact that they tend to slip off our shoulders. In addition, they have a minimal effect on breast lifting. Also, shortening them does not solve the problem at all, as it makes the back of the bra ride up on the back.
  • Straps that are too short - Straps that are too short can cause pain due to the material sticking too much to our skin. You can often see this at first glance.
